What Is Your Daily Average Step Count?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi guys I’m just wondering how much everyone else uses their legs, and daily steps seems like a good benchmarker.

Does this impact your pain? Is there a certain point where it changes from helpful to counterproductive?

I get a fairly high step count (Phone number can only be seen by MyFibroTeam users) when at work. I’m wondering if this is hurting me. It sure feels like it’s hurting me.

I’d love to hear from other people tho! How much do you walk, and are the results good/bad?

Yes! It can trigger pain! I used to walk three miles a day. Having fibro, i'm down to almost a mile a day. Sometimes i'm bed ridden for days after walking. I also had a job that required lots of walking. All I can say is REALLY PACE YOURSELF. Hugs.

Pay attention to your shoes! I have some that are better than others for walking. Although I do not walk as much as you.

I got a step app free for my phone. My goal is 1000 steps a day. If I go over say 3000 steps I will crash early that night in pain need a hot bath and feel more pain for about 3 days after. I have no idea how you handle 10,000! There is an amount of excercize that is good for us and keeps us in a low pain area, and then pushing ourselves to hard ruins us for days. Try to see how many steps you can take without hurting yourself worse. Maybe you can plan more efficient walking at work.

DONT DO IT MY LOVE!!! It only aggravates the tendons, ligaments muscles n bones! Do gentle exercise on the bed where yr pelvis is supporred- u can keep yr legs supple n do muscle work. Better is a handful of rest than a striving after the wind. You'll create acid in the blood. Keep a good alkaline p.h.with anti-inflamatory foods, high potassium, salads salads raw veg n fruit.

I try to keep up with "steps" but i am lucky if i can get on my elliptical or treadmill for more than 30 min a day. If i do more, i am toast for days.
