I work in an office setting sitting down all day which really does not help my conditions and my work is very target driven. I suffer at work a lot with fatigue and what I call brain fog which means I'm often double checking my work to ensure I've got it right. This in turn means I'm not meeting my targets. Does anyone have any tips? Suggestions?
Ive found a couple things that help me. Days i am at my desk a lot i get up for a few minutes of walking every hour or so. Wellbutrin has been really useful in reducing my fog. Ive also been able to set mu work hours so that im there early in the day when my brain functions best
I have had Fibromyalgia for 18 years. Its seems the Memory dysfunction is getting worse. Also paying attention to detail is very hard. What I would suggest you have done, is a
Cognitive test done by a Psychologist for Cognitive problems,.Fibromyalgia Fog is real..and it can be proven with a Cognitive test. The reason I say to have this test done..is that in the future,if you must leave work,,this test proves why,you can not work anymore, .and if you leave work you can get workmans comp,.because of Cognitive Dysfunction ,as you say way too many mistakes..and no follow through, can not focus, .memory problems, etc. .it is real,
I also have Fibro and hypermobility. After struggling with desk work for 30 years and doing everything I could (massage, yoga, heat, muscle relaxers, advil, etc) I finally had to stop working a year ago. I just couldn’t do it anymore. On top of the physicsl problems, the cognitive issues (fatigue, fog, memory) just got so bad I couldn’t function any longer.
I met with an OT for a while to specifically work with them on how to function better and manage my symptoms while working. Some things that really help me are: making a list of tasks that are too "costly" for me to do- like filling up the paper in the printer (the bending) or lifting heavy things because my ribs pop out etc and then making sure i ask people for help getting those things done. I also have an alarm every 45 min pop up on my screen to get up and move around. My boss and coworkers being aware od my condition really helps too! Good luck!
One of the positives where i work is the number of people with fibro or a close family memeber. We all understand so we all ‘get it’ and feel less craY.
