Strange Pain...anyone Else??
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Every two or three months I experience this strange pain around my low abdomen and back. It’s like a band around me hugging me t Ghetto and tighter. It’s gets progressively worse day by day, to the point that yawning or deep inhalation causes me to shout out. Eventually after about two weeks it fades back to nothing. Each time it appears, it seems worse in intensity. Not sure if it’s Fibro related or just some bizarre muscular phenomenon.....anyone else?

Hi Cindy :) I'm new to this site but unfortunately not to fibro and its mysterious symptoms. What you have described sounds like my newest diagnosis and what fibrofriend LisaKilbourn mentioned Costochondritis (inflammation of the rib cage cartilage). I have heard it called MS hugs also. I find that ice alleviates and relieves some of the pain over using heat. If you are using heat cause it feels good that is short lived and I find exasperates so I try and make it short and rotate longer on ice. Today where I live we had rain and snow mixed and I was in excruciating pain. I couldn't wait to get home from work and grab my ice pack. The snow makes these hugs so unbearable every time. How strange is that...I am on ice but snow makes my symptoms worse? It must something to do with the barometric pressure I am positive it has its affects on the human body. I should be a weather person...I could tell you the night before that its on its way. Best of luck. Sending you soft hugs and positive thoughts...Hopeful Virgo

Exactly the same feelings wrapping around tightness on and off like hardening concrete. Mine turns into pain right lower ribs area especially on the front. Had multiple tests from blood to CT, to ultrasound, colonoscopy without finding anything. It's about five years now. Such an alarming, annoying feeling, nothing really helps. Warm bath, relaxation. I am pretty sure mine is muscular type of problem sometimes the tightness migrates.

That is worth getting checked for sure then. Tell them you are having trouble peeing and feel like you have a bladder infection. They take that seriously at least! Anything to get them to check you out!!

Does it have a certain time of the month it shows up? Kinda reminds me of how id get with my periods before my hysterectomy. I had endometriosis as well as adynomyosis - where the lining grows into your muscle tissue, so when uterus contracts to shed lining, it is this squeezing and pain like a band wrapping around your stomach, sometimes into my back. It would be so bad sometimes i couldn't stretch my legs out or really do anything at all. Sometimes id notice it around ovulation. Some months not at all. Might be worth getting a gyno consult if any of this sounds close?
