I am currently working part time bc i can't drive for another month or so (neurologist orders). However i return to work full-time after that and am concerned about going back full-time as i have still had to call out and/or switch my schedule around working part-time due to pain and/or severe fatigue. Are any of u guys still working? Are you on disability? If you are on disability what was the symptom (s) that made u decide to go this route? Was getting disability difficult? i know it is hard to know what to do. I got hurt at 21 years old and was off of work for 7 years. I tried to get disability then but was denied all 3 times. You apply get denied get an attorney to appeal it and get denied again. Then you go in front of the judge and i was denied again
I went back to work only doing 3 hr shifts then worked my way back to waitressing, which i loved doing. Then a kid tripped me and i hurt my ankle bad and ended up with 2 different neck surgeries the following 4 years. I applied at 35 years old and finally was approved 2 years later. It is a long hard battle but it was worth it to me. I could not take the pain anymore. I can barely function everyday without having to work. Anyway if yiu decide to apply, get every paper from every doctor that you go to and keep a good record of all the do tors that you have been to. That is the most important thing that will help you get it. Go to all the doctors possible. The more you see, the better info you can give social security. Good luck with deciding. Hugs
5 years ago a nurologist told me i needed to go on disability. I couldn't understand why he would even tell me such a thing with explaining further.
Then last year my gp told me to bring in the disability papers fornher to sign. She signed for my blue parking permit n filed the papers for disability. Didnt get it first or second try currently going for third n likely tribunal.
My husband on the other had got in on his first go last year - epilepsy with blindness.
@A MyFibroTeam Member. I did want to strangle the kid but i live 5 miles from disney so the kid was all hyped up from going there. I was walking fast cause we were packed. He just sat down and decided to jump up quick and scooted his chair back where i got tripped by it. It was in 2000 so i have gotten over it but still would have liked to strangle him or his parents. Not sure which. Lol. I hope you get approved. Do not wear makeup and wear comfy clothes and shoes. You do not want the judge to see you all made up. Good luck. Hugs
@A MyFibroTeam Member I am so sorry that happened to you. I think I would have tried to fight that kid πππ we suffer enough pain without falling. I am glad you have finally been approved. I am praying I get approved when I go in front of the judge in March.
I went through this same thing and made my decision because I was unable to drive and was also not able to work my part time schedule. It was a hard decision for me at only 38 to decide to stop working but with the pain I experience now I am glad I did. The 1 thing my disability lawyer made sure I understood is that 1 of the requirements is to be out of work for a year in order to be approved. I founda lawyer that will not get paid unless I am approved. This will gives me a little security that he will work hard to get me approved. I wish you luck with your decision.
