Does Anyone Use The Butrans Patch For Pain? If So, Do You Take Any Other Narcotic Pain Medication With It?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am asking because I was told that I am not allowed to take anything with the Butrans 20mg patch that I am on (I am referring to pain medication) and I have read online that other people have. Not on this site though. So, I do not know if it is true. I have been in extreme amounts of pain and I feel as though the Butrans patch does not work anymore. They only last so long before I am asking for my dosage to be brought up. But my doctor said I am at the highest dose. I read that was false as… read more

Smart lady, LiZard and LisaKillbourn. Drs don't get it, and yes, they are limited by laws, that our body adjust very quickly to pain meds and so the dosage has to get higher, then other meds get added to those to build up the help, BUT, the hard truthful drawback is eventually you will have to detox and I'm telling the straight God's truth, IT IS HE'LL ON EARTH. I did it alone at home but that is me. Don't try it unless you're sure you can. I'm a different person than most. No horn honking, it's just how I am.
You have to watch it because you kidneys, liver, heart, brain get reamed with the chemicals. You have to detox for their sake and your bones pay a price too. Vision, skin, body. All for the real need to help the pain. Nothing is free when it's your body and we only have one. Please hear me and understand, what I did I chose to do. There were no beds available in the 3 hospitals and it was urgent that I get all the meds out of me after the triple bypass rehab place had caused unperscribed pain meds poisoning. I was dying. I asked that kind nurse please get me home. I can do it. She did. I called 1 friend and told what I was going to do, I called a counselor friend for advice, and then I started. I was so dehydrated, and I was drinking like a fish, I had no tears to cry, no pee, no sweat. Kidneys were locking up, liver tests were screaming. It's a long story, but I'm here. I take zero meds. I fight it in ways that help ease to a degree, but don't stop the pain. I won't take another med. but hear me please. That's me. I am only saying these things so you make sure drs watch your kidneys and liver. And that bull about acceptable levels is bull. Acceptable to who? Learn for yourself what else you can do as well as your meds. But have a backup plan. Please, you have only 1 you. it's precious and priceless. Hold it close. You are stronger than you know. Find that strength. build on it. grow it. geez, i prayes my heart out. still do when a pain spike hits. But I look beyond the pain to when it will end. NOTHING LASTS FOREVER. I look beyond the storm. That's me. Have always bern strong minded. Had to be with my Past. But it helped me become who I am now.
I'm done yapping. This is vital to me that you stay alert to your body. Pain meds? Do what you need to, just remember there is a limit to what our bodies can endure. Be careful, do what is right for you. Only you can make that choice. Find a real dr.🙏💜 I'm passionate about this because I love you. Moí

If the patch is not working, I would see about going to a different doctor since you said this one won;t give you anything else. Is this doctor a pain management doctor? If not you need to get one. My primary used to give me pres for pain but he sent me to a pain doctor several years ago. Primary doctor are not able to write pres for narcotics, at least here in florida. Good luck. I hope you can get help soon.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I could not agree with you
More! I’m now detoxing off of the Fetanyl Patch! Been on it for 8-9 yrs. I’m down from 50mgs to 25mgs in 6 weeks. I feel so much better as I get this out of my system. I’m not in as much pain, I’m not in withdrawal mode every other day, and my mind is becoming clearer. This was my choice and it has been a ride. I am learning new techniques to deal with my pain such as, mindfulness, embracing the pain and breathing thru it, meditation, hot Epsom Salt baths with essentials oils, eating foods to heal my body, along with being gentle with myself. It’s a new me and so far I’m liking me a lot more. I hope to never need any opioids again!

@A MyFibroTeam Member. Thanks for sharing. My doc checks my blood every 6 months. So far so good. My kidneys and liver have not shown any problems yet. I drink close to a gallon of water a day. That might be whats saving me. Take care of yourself. I am glad to know you wete able to detox on your own. Been there done that.
