PIP Assessment
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

This will be my 5th time applying for pip. I recieved a letter and someone is coming to my home rather than me having to go to place they usually do assessments. Does this mean I’m more likely to get it this time. I didn’t ask for someone to come out to me they just said they believe I would benefit from it? I’ve never had an at home assessment what should I expect?

Hi I am new to this and have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am currently employed full time but am off work sick due to extreme pain and exhaustion. I am not aware of any support that is available x

Do you know that you are allowed to have a copy of your application form with you and refer to what you had written on the form before you answer questions. Also remember you must get yourself into the mindset of your worst days and tell the assessor when they arrive what sort of day you are having. Just breath and take your time.ive been there just a few months ago and was awarded the advanced rate. If you are genuine I think they get it. I would wish you luck but you don’t want it. You just want what you are honestly entitled to. Let us know how you get on! X

I got awarded normal rate for living and nothing for mobility!!!! Think it went against me cause I am still forcing myself to work most days even if it's only for a few hours. Will try and apply for higher rate and mobility again as I think I was trying to be too positive, I've never claimed for anything before so it was all new to me.

Hi it means they believe you have problems. That's good for you because so now you don't have to keep proving it. You only have to show how bad it is a little trick is if you don't take any of your normal meds until after they have gone. I know it's difficult but you will be visibly in so mucñ pain and discomfort when they see you. You must tell them no matter how bad you feel that this is you on a fairly good day if you see what I mean this way they get a good idea of how bad things are for you. That should help you get it also remember to shorten all the distenses you can walk and that you need help with everything night and day especially night you need help more times in the night with meds moving dressing washing toiletting and so on. Hope yhis helps this can work with other benifits as well.
