Has anyone else seen the news that CVS is going to start restricting Opiates? For acute pain you can only get 7 days worth of pills no matter what your Dr wrote and for chronic pain you can only get so many prescriptions for pain pills. This is their fight for addiction. So now a pharmacy is saying we can't get our meds. When did people quit taking responsibility for themselves?!? I was on morphine for a yr and a half, I haven't had one in two weeks. No withdraws because I take them like I'm… read more

Sounds good!!! My uncle is Senator Orrin Hatch. I know he is busy but I am going to call him and tell him what we are going through. Maybe he can at least give me some reassurance. I know our state is close to legalizing MM. I hope I will get some encouraging news from him.

So I just read the article and I took something completely different from it. It's new policy will be lining up with the CDC. They are restricting a seven day prescription for a first time opioid prescription and user. So this makes sense to me that a seven day prescription would be given to someone who has just had surgery for example . Seven days after you would get home from the hospital would probably be enough depending upon your surgery. ( I'm just using this as an example ). If you have different situations with chronic pain, it was clearly stated that your doctor would be able to override that.
I actually think that this is pretty smart and I'll explain myself. There are the big addictions which we all know is alcohol, drugs and porn. So why are there so many people that can drink and not become alcoholics? Why are there so many people that can take a Percocet and not become an addict? Why is it that there are so many people that can pick up a Playboy magazine and never need to view it again? It's because our make up's are all different. Just remember that there are people out there that will drink one beer and they are hooked. They will take one pill and they are hooked. They could view a very small amount of porn and they are hooked. We are all wired different and respond differently.
If the first time opioid user is restricted to seven days and then the doctor reevaluates, I'm actually totally fine with that. Who knows if that first time opioid user will be one of those people that doesn't want to stop at seven days. If the doctors can override people with chronic pain I am OK with that also. That's what should happen.
I didn't take this as something negative but something positive. With the rate of overdose and addiction in this country we don't want to look back and say that nobody tried to do anything. If it wasn't for Narcan there would be thousands and thousands more deaths from overdose. I'm just thinking that it's someone just trying to do something. Anything.
As long as our doctors who are helping us now are still allowed to do that, which they are, I'm open to hearing some better ideas.

The information about Jeff Sessions is not true. He has announced his plan to go after illegal prescription writers and abusers which includes doctors and pharmacists. There is a section in this community that do this for profit. It's fraud.
This will have nothing do do with our honest doctors and pharmacists. His mission is to stop doctors who give out opiod perceptions illegally, which in turn will help cut down on addiction.
Again, another instance of someone trying to do something!

@A MyFibroTeam Member, my twin is a drug addict on the streets of Seattle for about 5 years now. I have rushed to the hospital twice for when he has OD. I totally get where you are coming from. I believe we need to do more to help people suffering from addiction. My twin use to look like he could be on the cover of GQ magazine to now looking gaunt and now his teeth are falling out. He also has AIDS which throws it into another deadly mix. I hope the government is timely in taking care of people who need interventions and rehabs. I hope we can reduce opiate addiction but not cause additional time with pain management to true suffers. It's a touchy and heavy-weighted subject for all. I was not personally offended. Hugs 🤗

I kind of agree with this, let me explain why would a first time pain patient be receiving Oxycontin instead of starting at the low end and working up. True some need it but as I have learned when you start on the high end with the max dose where do you go from there when it stops working. Unfortunately, this is one of those scenarios where the just will be punished with the unjust. You can always choose a different pharmacy. I don't think this will go any further than where it is now, talk.
