Here is an interesting take on previous trauma the brain and how it causes fibro pain.

Our poor brains have no chance, do they? Any pain memory stored in the past will be reawakened by this process. Fibromyalgia is notorious for causing previously injured areas to hurt more once it develops. This previously injured area may have settled down and become essentially pain-free, but the pain memories remained, although inactive. Thanks to the Fibromyalgia pain amplification process, the inactive… read more

Gentle hugs for everyone who has shared such personal info regarding experiences etc. I think it highlights how much we trust the site and each other. Also, how different types of trauma have brought on fibromyalgia. I think this question has gave a little more insight into understanding the causes of fibromyalgia. X

Yes, i banged my head on the steering wheel after being struck by an impaired driver who was driving a truck while I was driving a Police Car. As I was athletic all my life and then took on a physical job as a police officer I trained at the gym 5 x a week, unless on vacation. I had 4 other incidents during police pursuits or arrests where I had hurt my lower back or shoulder but always recovered completely. I had been pain free doing very well for 4 years until this last accident. I had been a police officer for 20 years and a mother of 2 boys. After the accident I rested, went to physio, massage, chiro, swimming and every time I tried to go back to the gym I would end up in bed for a week. It seemed flu like but it turned out to be Fibomyalgia. I went to Mariette Georgia to the Fibro & Fatigue Clinic and followed their protocol as an international patient. It helped my energy but not the pain. Then in 2016, I was blessed to participate in a clinical trial at Toronto General Hospital in the Hyperbaric Oxygen Unit. That cleared up my Fibro Fog 100%, They did a BRAIN MRI before and after and found evidence of a Traumatic Brain Injury and a Micro Bleed that was never diagnosed and likely occurred as a result of that last accident where my head banged off the steering wheel. I had an abrasion and it rang my bell, it took my breath away and my eyes went blurry for a bit. I got myself together and when I got out was not myself. The driver of the truck ran to starbucks to flush the drugs and I could not go after him. *first time in my life I could not go after someone. My pain is on the back half of my body 1" deep from top of neck both sides into both shoulders, upper arms, shoulder blades, hips, groin, legs, calves, hands and feet. My lower abdomen hurts alot perhaps because my 2nd child birth was a painful c section? Hope that helps.
