@A MyFibroTeam Member; I'm so sorry to hear that your family really believes that working out hard will "fix" you! That is the worst thing someone with Fibro should do. Light exercise is very important such as walking, using a pool, riding a bike, and very light weights, but a hard work out??? No, absolutely not. I have something in my favorites that I want to try and get on here so you and others can print it out and share with family members that are NOT educated in the struggles we go through with this debilitating illness. You are not alone and we are here to always support you!!!

I got busy and signed up to volunteer with several organizations in our community, so I get asked this fairly often. I feel like most people use "How are you?" as a form of greeting, not necessarily wanting a health report. :) Usually I smile and say something like, " Life is good!" or "Glad to be here!" or something along that line. If it is a really bad day (migraine, fatigue, etc.) I still try to smile and instead of anything at all about myself, I'll say something like, "It's so good to see you!", or "It's a lovely day, isn't it?" The smile triggers my brain to remind me to search for the positive.

Remember that the pain and feelings do exist. Mentally, we just need to acknowledge things but try to not dwell. That is where this group, keeping a journal, helping in our own world as we can-- those are critical to help our brain develop neural pathways that take us off the pain train and onto the joyful train. My counselor told me how our brain develops very strong pathways the more we focus on things. We must purposefully take the off-ramp to gets lots of pathways to mentally travel. Amazing what high tech can tell about brains. Love and hugs!
