PT
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've had Lupus and recently diagnosed with Fibro so I have a lot of ?s. My shoulders and area below my clavicle have been in pain on both sides. When I lift my arm to get dressed or reach in any way I get a searing pain for a few min and then it returns to a dull knife stabbing feeling. Has anyone experience this? I'm set to go to PT today for the 1st time and I really don't want anyone to touch me. Can anyone tell me what a PT is suppose to do for me

Thanks
J

Absolutely. I suffer from the same thing with my arms/clavicles. I also went to PT three different times, I'm not sure what it does for other people, but it really didn't do anything for me. They expect you to keep it up on a daily basis, which for most of us, let's be honest, isn't realistic. Only then does PT really work. I hope yours goes differently from mine. The only great thing about one set of mine was I had traction and that helped my back feel slightly better for a little while. Hope it went well!

I was the same but my pt actually stopped and said she felt she's was making it worse ....which she was ... they tried everything after that ... I go to the hospital for PowerPoint injections every 6months now and painful as they are they actually work in the area they are given ... unfortunately the spasms etc then start else where .... u can only have injections 4 times then next step is infusions .... but frozen shoulders are common when u have fibromyalgia so u need to check if they are because that is treated differently... this site is great for info on treatments etc just knowing there are other options when u feel a treatment isn't working gives me hope .... take care

PT usually gives you exercises that improve joint mobility. It can help bu you need to continue the exercises at home or your joint will just go back to where it was.
