Office Work And Arm Pain / Fatigue
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I work at a desk about 8-9 hours daily. By the days' end, my left shoulder is nearly jacked up to my neck! I have a hard knot where my neck meets my shoulder and this causes radiating pain and arm fatigue. Anyone else suffering from "desk syndtome"?

Hello!!

Yes when I was able to work I used to get standing too long, sitting for too long, and anything that I did for too long syndromes until I was sent on disability and then it became permanent disability 😩😩

But yes because of the fibromyalgia I saw myself not being to do anything for long time periods!!

Sending soft hugs 🤗 and prayers 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I don't sit in an office anymore, but driving a school bus I noticed I hold my stress in my shoulders and neck. I was told by a massage therapist to just sit back take some breathes, and where ever your holding your stress focus and try to relax. We hold our stress usually in the shoulders and neck area. That constricts the blood and oxygen through the muscle and nerves and that's where the pain comes in. Stand up stretch take some deep breathes and make sure your drinking water continually. Just trying to share what I have been taught and have experienced, I hope this helps.

I totally do! My hands will get very stiff from typing and my back will freeze up. My right arm feels so weak by the end of the day it's hard to come home and use it to make dinner.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I have the same fear, but (like you) if I can push through the pain, fatigue and weakness, I come out feeling a bit better on the other side. I'm overweight (gained about 40 pounds since this mess began). Vanity is the last thing on my mind, but I'm trying to eat healthier in the hope it will improve function. A nice side effect was a 16 lb loss, so I'm happy for that. Praying you are well today.
