UTI's And Hydrotherapy
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

How can I combate possible bathing or hydrotherapy UTI's? Have you gotten more UTI's since your diagnosis? A bit scared, as I read people with MS get UTI's often and I still am due to take my brain MRI. ( Just an FYI/TMI My UTI's are not from sex, I wear cotton underwear and wipe in the right direction too 😉) Just so frustrating as hydrotherapy helps so much with my widespread pain and stiffness. 😢

Depending on if you have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease as well kidney issues and UTIs are very common period I am actually going through that right now and I am fairly bed ridden due to the pain. I found out yesterday not only do I have kidney infection I have a bladder infection and a UTI I was given an injection of a powerful antibiotic and then put on antibiotics unfortunately antibiotics usually make me flare up even more but I cannot afford to have my kidneys shut down or be hospitalized. I understand your woes because I'm going through them right now I wish I had good advice for you maybe a hot shower but if you're anything like me your feet hurt to stand in the shower so if you have a shower large enough try sitting on a towel in the shower and just letting it run on you good luck and God bless

@A MyFibroTeam Member What is a T1D? I am sorry, I just don't know. I probably have had about 4 in my whole life time, I thought, but 2 UTI's hit in the last few years pretty close to eachother but, these are also along with a couple bladder infections and a painful kidney infection too. So probably four to five infections that all began as UTI's since moving in our SFL home, which when I turned 40 and my fibro symptoms just kept getting worse and worse. Sometimes too I just have had the pain of one of the three I mentioned, and nothing shows up on tests, which is so fun. It also is not good that the class of antibiotics used to usually treat UTI's can cause Neuropathy, Cipro I can not even take anymore as it tightens up my calves and tendons around about my ankles and heel, which is a very bad thing. When I read that article though, all my worsening Fibro made a lot more sense too, since I was prescribed that class for horrible sinus infections before sinus surgery. Count the no UTI's as a blessing, unless you like the feeling of passing glass instead of urine, but I am sure you have other struggles that aren't mine.

I am so sorry @A MyFibroTeam Member I actually had kidney issues for 7 years on and off but, never have had all three of those at one time. I cringe to think of how much pain you are in prayers that the shot gave you a good start toward healing up. I know just with Fibro alone IC is common and was concerned about it during my last UTI. I did make sure to also do the monistate ritual after this last bout of antibiotics. I also threw away some panty liners I had gotten for the little leaks I was getting during the UTI. As at first I thought it was "just the fibro" and not a UTI. I tossed them because I noticed they irritated me a bit and then noticed they had a scent to them because they weren't just panty liners for periods but, for urine I guess that is more common?? Anyway, still okay, but I so wanted a bath last week but, the thought of one of those lovelies crossed my mind:/ Funny, I have done exactly what you suggested in my shower but, I imagine in my shower with the tub it might be better. My Master bath is one of those larger size walkin showers without a door and I gave myself a chill when I tried the towel on the floor in there. It is my lower back that is the problem but, sometimes my feet and legs too, but either way the pain makes it hard to just take a shower sometimes. Just the last six months and I can't be not getting washed because then I will end up with a UTI anyway. 🙄I do hope you heal up quick, but I am wondering what I may have other than fibro and I don't want anything else with Fibro as this sucks enough most days. :/
