How Do You Describe A Flare?

The way I described it to my hubby was after he had a case of the flu. He ached so badly all over, he was groaning... I said to him, Honey, welcome to my world. I tell people it's like the worst flu pain you've ever had except for one major thing, it never stops for me. Remember how utterly fatigued you were? That's how I feel all the time. Then there's my: sleep apnea, terrible insomnia, spinal stenosis, bulging disks, deg disk disease, clinical depression, anxiety, Reynaud's disease in hands and feet, aneurysms in abdomen and groin, interstitial cystitis, and pelvic floor pain. I married Pete in 2002 and have not been intimate for about 15 years. Just the guilt for that alone has been awful! But he has never once complained. He just wants me to be okay for which I am grateful. My depression got so bad, I had to have shock treatments. Now I have long term memory loss which has made my depression worse. I walked out on my job after 27 years because of the terrible treatment. So, this is me in a nutshell!! Sorry, I didn't mean to write a novel here. I do have a strong faith in God as a Christian and lean on Him continually. I couldn't make it without Him. And my family!!! Like all of you, I do what I can when I can where I can. May God bless us all. Gentle hugs to all of you...

I'm like you. I do what I feel like. Then I can't do. I've feel guilty because I can even clean my house. So I do. Then I pay. I can't do it any other way.

My flares vary, but sometimes it feels like my whole body is clenched like a tight fist and won't relax. Sometimes it can last 3 days and when it is over, I am so weak it is like recovering from the flu. Just getting into the shower is a chore and the water hitting my skin hurts. My most recent one was just plain fatigue, with weakness in my chest and horrible brain fog. I do know I have to drink plenty of water, and any day it is at all possible take a brisk walk. As time goes by I have less and less good days, and even a good day seldom lasts all day. I also try to catch up on housework on my good days, but even worse is sitting still and trying to do bookkeeping all day. I must get up and move or the next day is really bad.

I clean houses and my flare up happen when I over do it and don't give my body the rest it needs on a day to day basses. Also, when I allow things to stress me out. I have learned to not let life over take my thoughts and cause me to worry about things I have no control over. When I let go and let God take over it makes a huge difference. When I pass myself and not over work my body I feel better. Going to a Chiropractor at least once a month (every three weeks) really helps too. Getting weekly massages also help tremendously. Use essential oils (lavender, Eucalyptus, peppermint, frankincense) mixed with coconut oil. Keeping the muscles messaged helps keep the blood circulating. And keeping yourself in motion. Try not to give into your pain. Easier said then to do. RELAX A LOT. THE BEST THINGS NG YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR FIBROMYALGIA IS TO EAT HEALTHY. YRS GET RID OF JUNK FOOD, PREPACKED FOODS, FAST FOODS, PREPARE GOOD HEALTHY MEALS AT HOME. EAT MORE VEG. AND FRUIT AND DRINK MORE WATER AND STOP DRINKING SURGERY DRINKS. PREBOTTLED DRINKS. WHITE SUGAR AND ALL THE FAKE SUGARS ARE THE WORSE! EXCERCISE AND EAT HEALTHY and drink more water ARE THE BEST THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR YOU BODY!
