Has Anyone Tried The Alkaline Diet And Found It Helpful With Fibro Symptoms?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am trying to learn about the Alkaline/Acidic Diet and what foods are acidic and what are alkaline. Supposedly, we need a combination of both. The modern diet of junk food, fast food are acidic and the majority of us are acidic, which means we have an overabundance of acid in our bodies. This diet purports us to eat alkaline foods to bring our bodies back to alkaline. The alkaline body can fight illnesses better and can even prevent some illnesses such as cancer. I was surprised what… read more

Six, I guess you believe that we all eat all acidic foods and our body would balance it out because there is a built-in internal mechanism that keeps an acid/alkaline balance. The Ph balance tests will tell you if you are eating too many acid foods. According to your theory, there would be no need for PH tests because the body will balance it out.

I don't think that it is an "either or issue". It does not mean to eliminate any foods but to eat those foods in moderation, not overload. Most of us find acid foods that we like and eat often, which can make us go into acid overload. I guess it is just teaching us to eat a variety and to ease off the junk food. Making us aware of whether a food is acidic or alkaline is important so we will not go into overload. I am learning to eat better.

The alkaline diet makes you focus on eating healthy food and cut out junk food. And we all know that is better for our bodies and makes us feel better without having to sell it under the umbrella of a certain diet.

I would be concerned about cutting out a lot of nutritional foods such as fish and certain fruits and as @A MyFibroTeam Member said, diet does not affect blood Ph according to research.

Rix, We must have a balance between acid and alkaline. I guess I did not make myself clear. I believe you are what you eat. They say you have an alkaline body if it is more alkaline than acid but still balanced. If we eat too many acidic foods, our bodies become more acidic. I am beginning to feel better now that I am eating my alkaline foods.
