Getting Over Fibromyalgia
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I live in a small community where everyone pretty much knows everyone so since starting to use my walking stick I have been stopped a lot and asked what I've done or why I have a stick. This morning I was stopped by a lovely old couple that I often talk too and told them I have fibromyalgia along with a bad knee so the long walk to the school has got to much and then I was told he HAD fibromyalgia. Now they have no reason to lie but I've not heard of someone getting over it before, any one know… read more

I don't agree that it's controlled with positive outlook at all, I went to therapy to help me think more positive and am 100% more positive then I was a year ago yet my fibromyalgia is worse then it was a year ago

I think it is something you have to manage rather than 'get over' I have only been recently diagnosed and have days where I am absolutely debilitated by it i.e today I think a lot of it is also sub conscious and can be controlled by a (if sometimes impossible) positive outlook :) I think the mind governs everything ultimately and once you face all your demons and learn to control your thoughts and feelings the management of pain in the body is also something you can control. Take care of yourself x

it is not controlled with positive outlook but I am trying myself to be positive most of the time but pain is not getting better. It is just helping facing it and keep going.

Thanks for your message. My pain consultant is excellent and is presenting his findings to team of Consultants. Each slide he showed me WAS ME. Must say the more I read, the more I know I am not alone with this awful painful condition.
