Exercise Or Rest???
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm so confused and torn by things my doctors and physio keep telling me. They keep stressing the importance of exercise but tell me not to do more than I feel able to. Even just walking from work to the bus stop I feel like my back will snap with the pain or my legs will give way with exhaustion. Do I push through and do more or do I listen to my screaming body and rest? How do you guys cope?

Try to do activities in ' small doses'. I was told to exercisefor only 5 -10 mins at a time, but do it many times a day like 8-10 times/day. Hope it works for you.

I use to push myself not realizing how much I was doing til I stopped. I say light stretching and rest. I know I should exercise more but right now walking is all I can do. Our bodies need rest more than the average person! If I don't rest, my pain gets worse

I avoid going out walking as I worry that iv then got to walk back... If I feel OK I'll do some housework but I sometimes feel frustrated that I do don't it quick enough or I pain too easily an it gets me down... Even simple things like hanging the washing on the maiden.. I'm in agony in the middle of my back... Which then I can't do anything else and just washing the dishes kills my back... So when I think of things I need to get done an its a few things I jus feel exhausted :(

I get on my recumbent stationary bike. For 30 minutes 3-5 times a week. Sometimes my back will hurt from it, but I can do it so much easier than walking. Some days I feel so lazy, just can't push myself.
