Has Anyone Been Tested For M.E?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

My fiancée knows someone with M.E. and told them i suffer from fibro. Her friend asked if i had been tested as the symptoms are quite similar. So I was just wondering if anyone had been tested. It's an especially salient question as I now have to use crutches to help me walk.

Thanks in advance.

I have always been led to believe that M.E also known as Chronic fatigue is caused by the same thing as Fibromyalgia but the main symptom is overwhelming and chronic fatigue where as the main symptom of Fibromyalgia is overwhelming and chronic widesplead pain amongst other symptoms. As far as I am aware, well not in the UK anyway, there is no specific test for M.E. or Fibromyalgia. They are both supposed to only be diagnosed when the medical professionals have excluded every other possibility so in other words the way I see it is they diagnose you with CFS Or Fibromyalgia depending upon the more dominant symptoms, fatigue or pain when they haven't got a clue what is wrong with you. Apparently I have both. First CFS and then Fibromyalgia came later because they had no idea how to treat me. I do know however, that they suspect both maybe caused by the Epstein Barr virus which is the same virus respossible for Glandular Fever which I had one year prior to CFS

@Fibromom- you are welcome. I don't think they are 2 separate diagnosis since everyone has both💕

Ugh! Thank you @ Cindy1310! I have researched sooo much, but have a hard time distinguishing between fibro and ME/CFS. I'd dare say I have both 😩

Do people with fibro have the postexertional malaise experienced by those with ME/CFS though? (to include swollen lymphnodes, sometimes fever)
