While on Gabapentin (<a href="/treatments/neurontin">Neurontin</a>) I noticed that I was having problems concentrating and forming my thoughts. I'm on <a href="/treatments/lyrica">Lyrica</a> and I still have problems sometimes forming my thoughts. Anyone else have these problems. I am seeing these articles about how <a href="/treatments/neurontin">Neurontin</a> and <a href="/treatments/lyrica">Lyrica</a> are damaging brain cells and causing problems later on. This kinda scares me...anyone else worried about this. And, if you are on other nerve medication do you have these issues. Are there even other nerve pain meds out there? Sorry if I am talking in circles, I'm just concerned. I have an appointment with my doctor next week, but I still am interested in input from others. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I had some serious fibro fog before I started <a href="/treatments/lyrica">Lyrica</a> or gabapentin. It didn't seem to get any worse while taking them. So it could be a symptom.

I had this issue well before i started taking gabapentin. Sometimes even simple words just won't form. I can see an image of the object but the word isn't connected to it. Like any med, its up to you and your doc to weigh the positives against the negatives for any med.

I was told that's a symptom if the fibromyalgia itself, known as fibro-fog.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I can't say for sure if it's a side effect from the meds or if it was there before. I'm a bit more of an airhead on gabapentin, but at least I'm not in so much pain, and thoughts don't spin as much as they used to.

Thanks everyone..... I've been very frustrated by not being able to form my thoughts. What really scares me is the idea that the meds I am on for my nerve pain could be damaging brain cells. I know every med has side effects, but that's major.

Also I have never taken more than 2 x a day tho rx says 800mg 3x daily wow ... taken half tabs to quell circulation ( feet asleep from time to time on advice of pharmacist) ?????
