A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

So even though my boyfriend says no I'm thinking about trying to find a part time job to help with bills.
But a job I can do n continue my ssd. Any ideas?
My lawyer said they just have to be willing to follow my doctors orders of what I can n can't do

I have a friend who watches children for mothers who work. It worked for her until the children grew up. The hours aren't usually long if you get school age children so you are just watching them from the time school gets out till the parents get home. It can be stressful if noise bothers you though. I worked in a grocery store in produce for awhile until they wanted more hours then I could handle. That was fun but tiring and they needed me to work a lot on weekends. Also worked as a driver for a couple of people who were handicapped. Took them to the grocery store, bank, doctor's appts. etc. Also fun but the money wasn't good.

Biggest thing is to know how many hours you can work without losing your ssd and be upfront with that. Then of course you have to know what you can do without over taxing your body and making things worse. It is a delicate balance. I do prefer working to not working but at this point my body isn't able.

I would love to work away from home but I don't think that would be possible. I feeled out an application last night for something full-time and I told them up front that I have fibro and arthritis. I am over qualified for the job so that is probably going to factor in as well. I am currently taking an online course so that I can work from home. I feel so bad sometimes because everything is on my husband.
Best of luck and gentle hugs.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I echo what you said! it'is important to tell them up front about what you can do & what you can't, Look for a small family business.

I wish I could work at a desk job with a head set on as a Telephone Receptionist instead of the medical field. I don't think I can work & to draw disability. I get so bored & there is the part about leaving my safe place HOME.

I cut back my hours to give rest time in between. Ideally if you could manage working M-W-F, gives you a break and might work within ssi guidelines. I'm trying to negotiating to work from home most days, my docs are supporting just need to wait for HR to decide. Whatever job you choose, start slow, if working then you can possible increase hours.

i mean you have to find something that you can do, and you can only work i think its a few days a week without messing up your ssd. idk its a sticky situation.
