Life With Fibro
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Ok so I'm over the shock I'm done the feeling sorry for my self I'm done grieving. So much how do I learn to accept fibro for what it is and the new life I have to live.
How do I figure out what's the new life I have to live?

Honestly I still get surprised by Fibro maybe bc my memory is bad and i constantly forget that I'm limited (or I'm just hard headed lol). However, it's great that you've decided to make an effort not to feel sorry for yourself, but there will be days that you will and that's ok too. This disease/syndrome changes not only our bodies but our minds. It affects us mentally, emotionally, and physically all at once. Then you hv to factor in finding a Dr who believes you and once you do, the musical meds side of things until you find your magic blend. The side effects alone are enough to drive you crazy, like we need any help going down that crazy train ( or at least I didn't.) The weight gain was horrible which makes the fibro worse so watch the weight.
My best advice to you would be:
1. Educate yourself and your support team to include husband and children on what fibro is and make it kid age appropriate. That way they know How to support you.
2. Allow them to join your team and fight and ask for help. I had a hard time learning this one.
3. Get out of bed even if you don't fee fee like it bc laying in bed makes it worse.
4. Exercise dose help but don't over do it.
5. Research the meds your Dr gives you bc you know your body better than anyone.
6. Anger is easier to show than Fear but don't push the ones you love away bc you're scared. They're probably scared too. Let them into your world/thoughts.
7. Life is made up from small moments so whenever possible grab as many as those small moments and make them count!
I hope one thing may hv helped. Most of these were lessons/mistakes I've learned and i would hate to see someone make the same ones. You can do this! God has got you covered and I've got your 6 aka back!

Each good day is a blessing. Good day isn't pain free but able to get things done through the pain.

Sometimes you have to STOP AND BREATHE.....
You can't let this disease rob you of your identity and your life. Yes our bodies doesn't function as they use to, and yes the pain can be overwhelming the majority of the time. This is the time we have to dig deep and find our inter peace, to say I will do what I can, how I can, when I can. I may not be able to accomplish all the things I use to in one day, but I will accomplish what I can today!
This is my live I'm going to live it or die trying. I can't bungee jump off of a bridge, but I can splash in a puddle with my rain boots and my grandkids, or sit in a chair and bake cookies that I pick up from the supermarket for them. (For me that's the life.)
Do what you can, and don't worry about what you can't.
I'm grateful for all the little things that I can do....

For me things just beginning as well I have high depression an bi polar, which makes things more challenging.. I decided months ago to set my mind frame to " I'm retired " I'm not read I'm broken but I'm still here I may not be what I once was but I'm still f,ing here.... So I made my mind set turn down I'm retired I had to slow down.. Also finding little things to get u up, like my orchids for example I have to get up to look at my orchids n morning glory's every morning even if there's nothing it still got me up out bed now I'm up walking around or sitting now I have to push my buttons find things thru the day... Little tasks sweep front room unload dish washer etc but these things take me all day... I try make a list for the day over my " sudo" coffee lol if I can accomplish two items I'm proud.... Take one day at a time and if it's not a great day I take it an hour at a time.... Hugs

You try to think of the positive things you have in your life and live in the moments because nobody is promised tomorrow
