This it a new one to me. Has anyone had muscle spasms in their throat? I thought it was a swollen gland but it feels like a spasm.
If you scan, I talked about my esophageal spasms. It pains above my breasts very badly. I wasn't sure at first if it was my heart. I talked to my Dr. And he agreed it was spasms. I also had a time where I couldn't swallow easily. I eventually had a test and the Dr. Snipped a ring at the top of the esophagus. That did help and I swallowed without trouble. I don't get the spasms as much as I used to, but I don't know why. When you have your spasm, try laying flat and relaxing. After a while that quit working and I drank a cold drink and that seemed to help pretty quick.
@A MyFibroTeam Member I have and my throat locks up when I take meds! I have had my esophagus stretched, but it still happens! I have to split some of the pills.
I have had what I thought were panic attacks but now that you say that, it very well could be spasms. It nearly paralyzes me, it's so scary. Can't swallow and feel like I can't breathe. Could be the same thing!
Yes I've had that throat and swallowing thing going on for quite a while. I find if I put my head up like I'm looking at the ceiling and relaxing my neck muscles it goes down but slowly. I have to chew my food more and eat slower. It helps.
No, Debbie. I have acid reflux. I know the difference. It is hard to explain. It is like you can't swallow. If you are drinking something, you can't get it down your throat. It is like your throat is closed. This is what it feels like to me.
