I'm coming up on my one year of having fibro. It may sound weird but I want to mark the event somehow. Not have a party or anything but it is a huge event in my life. It could be as simple as writing in my journal and praying. But. I don't know I feel I need more.
Thoughts.

Plant a tree, the more it grows and the bigger it becomes reminds you of how far you've come. Maybe it's too weird of a suggestion but I know a few people that have planted trees and it remained a very good memory in their minds. Let it signify your hope and strength in the bad times. Maybe a fruit tree if you want, it takes awhile for it to bear fruit but it's worth it. Blueberry bushes are really great too.

Write a letter to yourself about this past year, read out loud, let some purple balloons go. Save the letter and read it on the second year to see if anything has changed for the better or worst that second year. Still write a letter each year, then read the year before. I pray your first year wasn't so bad.

Hi Basil!
I'm in the same boat as you are. Coming up on my one year diagnoses in November.
I see that you have a spiritual side. I say you go back on the Q&A on your anniversary and ask for a group prayer at a specific time during that day. I truly believe in the power of prayer and what a great way for all of us to come together and send all of our thoughts, prayers and energy your way.
After that, you have a lot of great advice from the other posts to make your day as great and stress free as possible.
You got this!!! And we are here for you. Hang in there!

Have as normal and happy a day as you can. That way you're demonstrating that you are managing fibro and you won't let it affect your life in the way it may have in the future!
