I just had my hearing with the judge for ssdi. Can anyone please recommend a good doctor that supports FM,? The one I went to failed to give me notes that were legible.! It was over 2 years ago.
@A MyFibroTeam Member - Yes, it was a huge effort but I can't begin to tell you the payoff was so worth it. Kaiser allows you to email your dr directly so now that I have a relationship with them I can email any of them anytime for anything, Like when the Lyrica was giving me trouble breathing, I emailed the pain dr and she put in a different prescription for me. Thanks for saying I am a warrior! The pain mgmt classes were twice a week for 6 wks, 2 hours a day. So add on 4 hours of drive time and my class was 6 hrs long with 4 hrs in traffic. I would come home and collapse. But I made it and encourage others to seek out treatment when possible. This was after I had three other Kaiser drs who said, "you look good how can you be in so much pain," and "how long have you been on these narcotics?" and "I can't help you, find another dr." Crazy, isn't it?
@A MyFibroTeam Member -It really is not fair about how others react when you say that you say you are trying to SSDI. I worked for over 50 years and paid into the system and so I understand exactly what you are talking about. Thanks for crossing your fingers for me! I just submitted another batch of paperwork about a month ago and they said after receiving this paperwork that they would be able to make a decision re my case. It made it sound like it would happen right away so I filled out the paperwork and got it returned within 2 days. And here I wait.
My pain management program including a psychiatrist (to deal with emotional needs), a physical therapist (to show me gentle exercises to ease my pain) and a pain doctor to prescribe and monitor my situation, progress, and meds routine to make sure I was getting all the help I could get. This was all through Kaiser and I live in southern California. I understand there are few insurances or medical facilities that have these programs so I was lucky enough to live in a place where it was available. I might add that I drive 2 hours one way for these classes and dr visits so it is not particularly super convenient for me either. I had to put some effort into it too. Which hurt and caused more pain while I was going through it but has given me all the relief possible for my situation.
I applied for SSDI over two years ago. I have been denied twice and now pending another appeal decision. I didn't give up and just kept going back. I am working with Premier Disability who have helped with paperwork and appeals. They didn't let me quit. It is so worth it if you can get it and the monthly income is almost nothing compared to the pain we go through. Wish me luck as I await my 3rd answer and the lesson here is don't give up!
@A MyFibroTeam Member - no news yet. I'm anxious to get an answer because I am hopeful it will be awarded. But...I know it could be a long wait. I've been working on this since August 2014. And thanks for asking! I will add you to my team. Bearfox
