Swollen Tongue And Canker Sores
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Do any of you have trouble with mouth sores. for 5 months I have had bouts of canker sores, burning tongue and mouth and a swollen tongue. I have treated my mouth with a mouth rinse made for sores of the mouth. I have purchased canker sore patches that are suppose to put a coating on the sore to help with pain. What I really wish I had was an answer to what could be causing it. In addition to these mouth sores I have had a flare with joint pain, muscle pain, very tender to touch areas as if… read more

I have that too and i was diagnosed with sjorgrens syndrome. dry mouth, dry eyes, and all the swelling and joint pain that goes with fibro. when its in a flare my tongue feels badly burned and swollen. I get canker sores easily but I have 2 full dentures. I can get by without the bottoms. I gargle with salt water 2-3 times a day, when you brush your teeth brush your tongue too with the toothpaste. stay away from acidic foods, tomatoes, oranges, pepper. etc also stay away from salty foods. when in a flare everything tastes salty even my water. so stay away from chips, processed lunch meat, processed cheese. i have cut my diet considerably but still cant lose the weight. go figure. there is a test for it but i dont remember which one it is. has something to do with antibodies.

OMG I am soooo happy you wrote this!!! I was finally gonna ask this question myself today!! My tongue feels like it's burnt 80% of the time but I just realized it in the last six months or so. I also get cankers or whatever in my mouth and always thought I had bit my cheek or inside of lip and just not noticed I did it ! Thank you so much for asking this as you have confirmed what I thought to be true! I had never heard anybody else mention the burning of the tongue and thought I was going crazy! Wow, what a relief!

Sorry also the bruising feeling ...if i gently bang my arm or leg or anywhere the pain is so bad it feels like i have been punched . my sister also gets the same thing .. My partner said it wasn't a hard bang and i said you don't realise how painful that was.

I've had alot of mouth sores and accompanied by aching and pain all over my body ..and I am so confused as my doc said if the test for arthritis is normal it must be fibro and since joining this site i have realised i fit in ...so i strongly believe i have fibro . the other doc said just keep taking vit D and iron tabs and see you in a month ...so one doc says one thing another says another .

I get painful mouth sores after my Cosyntx injections. They last about two weeks of the month but the benefit of the cosyntx is more than the discomfort of the sores. They do seem to be accompanied by a bit of a flare.
