Pelvic Pain
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

For about the past year or so I've been having horrible pelvic pain. It usually came around the time of my "period" but I wasn't even close to regular because of the birth control I was on (nexplanon). I got the birth control taken out about a month ago hoping that would help. The pain got better for a bit, but started again pretty badly. Does anyone else experience this? I've been thinking it could be endometriosis. Any suggestions? Thanks!

see a gynae expert, pelvic inflammatory, (PID) is very painful, not sure about endometriosis that usually causes heavy bleeding and pain, maybe a good consultant will advise an IUD (mirena) not to be confused with coils these are NOT but they supress ovaries and stop periods,a s a retired recently gynae theatre nurse I have seen this be a god send to many ladies.. never assume all our pain is fibro related we still get other things too

Bad pelvic pain that's with your cycle could definitely be endometriosis! I have Fibro and endometriosis and they are commonly found together. It also could be ovarian cysts but you need to talk to your OB-GYN about it and see what they think. Endometriosis is very hard to diagnose because it doesn't show up on imaging tests a lot of the times but if this has been going on for a while they might consider an exploratory laparoscopy. I hope you get answers.

Hello Brianna- make an apt with gynae doc for this area, you could be right, have you had smears done regularly? A good gynae doc will get bloods, scans mri,s etc and MAYBE a keyhole look, if tis endo the most common treatment when I retired a couple of months ago; was to have a Mirena IUD fitted, its not a coil its a new device that helps with fibroids and endo.. good luck don,t leave it to chance.

I'm not sure about the birth control and such, but I get pelvic pain fairly regularly. I get sharp pains at the top of my hips and my whole pelvis just feels fragile. Like it could shatter with the slightest jarring. It comes and goes, some days are better than others. 🤗
