Back Surgery? Yea/ Nay?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi, I'am sure may of u have had this surgery. I'am taking a survey, conducted by myself and wonder if u have had this operation, regardless of what kind would u recommend it? Or think u were better off without it? Concidering this operation. Just checking stats. 💜💜💜 ?

I totally agree, that is why I asked people who would tell the truth, people in the same situation. My neurosurgeon wanted to do surgery 7 years ago, I said no. I had an MRI yesterday of my brain and neck, still have another not scheduled yet for my lower back. I will find out Tuesday results. But I already know what is coming. I also believe at this point I too have no choice. I hope we make the right decision. 💜💜💜

i am on gabapentin with tramadol for severe pain. i have had several steroid injections and they helped me a lot. but i am debating this time. i was in the hospital in march for blood clots, 2 in my right leg and a saddle embolis in my lungs (both lungs) . I am on coumadin. my pcp is very skeptical about them. he says i should stop the coumadin 2 days before and depending on how i do restart it after the procedure. but that in turn increases my risk of more blood clots and also the risk of bleeding. but i am in terrible back and leg pain. its a sciatic nerve from my L4 &L5 being compressed with nothing in between and is pressing on the s1, and to add to that my feet are swollen. does anyone have any suggestions?

If you have a herniated disk sitting on a nerve, do it. I did and have been so glad not to have back pain anymore.

I'd be surprised if he did both at the same time, but it really depends on what surgery he has in mind etc.

A big thing is to make sure you do as advised regarding rehabilitation. I didn't rest as much as I should have post my neck surgery and I think that has played a big part in my neck still having pain at times.

Good luck with it all :)
