Dairy And IBS.
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I recently have been having terrible stomach problems. I think its IBS linked to my fibro. I have been wondering whether to try giving up dairy for a bit and see if it helps. I don't know if its linked to dairy its just I'll try anything to help the problems I've been having. Does anyone else find dairy affects their IBS caused by fibro? Is there anything else I could try? Any advice greatly appreciated. Many Thanks.

My IBS is so much better, almost gone by taking IBGard, purchased on Amazon. It's a food pharmaceutical, with capsules filled with pure, organic peppermint oil. Take 2 - 30 min. Before or after you have eaten. It causes normal bowel movements without the urgency and gets rid of all the gas that goes with IBS. I am impressed. No negative side effects. Let me know how you feel. 3 times a day, 2 each time. Also when you burp, sometimes it smells and tastes like peppermint. Nice side effects.

My husband has IBS. He finally found a medicinal food called IBGard. He bought it from Amazon and it's natural high strength peppermint oil in capsules. Gas and cramps all gone. Urgency all gone and normal bowel movements also. Maybe you should try it. No side effects. Except peppermint breath occasionally. Lol!

I have IBS but it is separate to my fibro, but i have found one can wind the other up. It took me about 12 years to come up with 3 lists, 1. things i can always eat, 2. things I can eat if I'm not stressed, or if I don't have anything else from list 2, or I have it at certain times and 3. the stuff I should avoid like the plague.

Over the years I tried dairy free, gluten free, meat free, caffeine free, you name it I tried it, what I found worked best was to keep a diary of what i ate and when, see when I was ill and then edit the food. From this I found I am fine with dairy, as long as i haven't eaten it within 3 hours of going to bed. I cannot eat anything seeded (fruit, bread, etc), nuts, or seasoning, but I am fine with white bread and pasta.

Sorry this isn't much help, just my experience.

I saw a dietician who treats fibro patients. She suggested the FODMAP diet. It has been really helpful. There is lots of good information online about it.

Yes IBS et fibro are connect. It is one of the many 60+ symptoms to fibro. I've tried a diary back in the day when 1st dx with migraines et couldn't find anything that was linked to them. As for my IBS some days I can eat a reg. salad et the next time I cannot. My philosophy in life is I am going to eat whatever et whenever I want et enjoy life. Life is too short et every thing seems like it's going to affect on us either way. Hope whatever you try works for you et god bless et hugs your way.
