I retired exactly one year ago because of my fibromyalgia and other health issues, plus a director that didn't understand my illness and limitations. I do receive a monthly pension check, one third goes for my insurance, so it is getting harder to make my bills. My primary doctor has recommened that I apply for disability. I have a couple of questions: how much paperwork do you need to provide to Social Security, and my second question is can you have a 401K account and still be approved?
Thank you.
Make sure you make a copy for your records before you send it in. I found that I had to think about each question, formulate an answer, then tweek my answer. You want to be as precise as possible in the limited space. Be honest. Being disabled does not mean you need to be in a nursing home.
Well, I received the Function Report - Adult and the Work History Report paperwork from the SS Office. Does anyone have any helpful hints for filling out the paperwork?
So glad you are moving forward......I will send positive thoughts your way and hopefully you will be approved quickly. Luckily you have a doctor who is supportive.....I think this will help you immensely. ((HUGS))
Debbie, thank you. I'm sorry that it took so long for me to respond, I am jusg getting over bronchitis. At my sister's suggestion I have started the applicaton process for SSDI. I was on the phone for over a hour with someone from the law firm, she told me it could take up to 2 years to be approved.
