Was just diagnosed yesterday w FM and Small Fiber Neuropathy and wondering now that I know what caused pain, weight gain and major fatigue...will I ever be able to do a triathlon or run again?

You may have to try starting really slow. After my knee surgery, I couldn't wait to get back on the treadmill but when I finally got permission, I found I could barely move at all but with persistence I was able to get back to where I was before the surgery. Just takes a lot longer then before. I would walk for a couple of minutes in the morning then again in the afternoon and evening. Still walking some distance just not all at one time. Eventually I was able to walk more each time. Treat your body like it has been injured. Don't try to push it too fast.

Just running is not good for anyone. Make sure you ad in some strength training and you should probably be able to keep up running. Maybe not a marathon but a couple of miles. It's important to keep your exercise level at low to moderate and carefully listen to signs of more aching or other fibromyalgia symptoms.

My daughter injured her hip during one of her marathons. She didn't think she would be able to run again. She has discovered that if she runs for a bit the walks for awhile, she is still able to go for the shorter marathons with her 5 and 9 year old children.

Thanks! Now I start getting shakes and extreme fatigue for days if i work out too much. Hoping drugs help me do more than walk.
