Anybody Tried Juicing? I Am Starting A Reboot On Monday After Checking With Dr That There Are No Problems With My Meds And Blood Pressure.

I am starting a juice reboot fast on Monday after checking with Dr that there are no problems with my meds and blood pressure.

I am inspired by the true story of Joe Cross, Fat, Sick and nearly Dead film on Netflix or his website. It has been around for a while- the film follows his journey back to good health, more energy and weight loss. You don't need to buy anything, no hard sell. There are guided plans for sale but I am doing it with a friend so no need.

There are free juice plans for 3… read more

I have keeping up with the juices but felt a bit "bunged up" so had to eat some bran last night, its the Tramadol that does it. Went for another gentle walk in the sunshine yesterday and juiced for an hour or so. I can have a day off from making the juice today as I did a batch yesterday.
I tried my own scales today and I have lost 11lbs in total so far. I feel so much more awake during the day and last night slept from 9pm through to 6.30am.
I know this sounds strange but it has been the first time all winter I can do the zips up on my knee length boots! Small celebration!!!

First day of the first week with friend going well following the 80% veg and 20% fruit, we juiced 2 litres of green juice, 1 litre of orange, 1 litre of purple and 1 litre of red. We worked our way through red cabbage, cucumber, spinach, spring greens, blood oranges, radishes, celery, beetroot, sprouting flower heads, apples, carrots, curly kale and pears. We have enough for 2 days now. The pulp she has taken home to make soup for the kids.

Next we are doing a mango, sweet potato, spinach and kiwi juice (Wednesday).
My friend has fancy scales and we used them today, apparently I have lost 8lbs in 2 weeks. I had enough energy to go with her on a 20 minute slow walk through fields today which was fab the sun shone and we took her grandchildren with us.

I am not hungry but I am missing my cups of tea and coffee. I am replacing them with chamomile, but if I really cant give it up I will have to buy some decaf. I am going to rest this afternoon, need to pace myself, for cooking dinner for the kids later.

Out of 10 I would score my energy at 5 (it is normally 2) and pain 6 ( mainly from standing at the juicer so I need to set it up at the dining table next time so I can sit down to do it. This is a bit trial and error so we will find the easier ways as we go along!

Thanks for your reply Collette. The juice plan I will be following has the 80/20 rule, 80% veg, 20% fruit,so you get the opposite, lots of nutrient full veg that you couldn't eat in a drink and 20 % fruit to add sweetness. I have had my juicer for 15 years but it has gathered dust in a cupboard, it is finally getting the spotlight. It is not a fancy modern one by any means, its the type people are selling on ebay for a few pounds/dollars. If my weighing scales are accurate I have lost a few pounds this week, but that is not the main benefit, I am less"foggy" and more alert, OH even said I was in a good mood today LOL! Now I am skeptical and at this early stage it could be placebo effect but I am continuing this week with a friend and the plan is we will motivate, juice and exercise together (if you can call very slow walking exercise). My friend is on disability benefit and doesn't own a juicer so she is visiting me, we will share the prep and actual juicing work (I spent 1hour yesterday doing it) therefore benefiting us both.

I will keep you posted on our progress!

I have been gently experimenting with different juices for the last few days, but I am going to try the 10day fast from Monday. You can find the recipes on Joes website but I have been making mine up to suit my taste buds. I use spring greens, spinach, cucumber, granny smith apples, tangerines and grapes.
I tried an orange colour juice with carrots, apples oranges, lettuce and cucmber, also tried purple juice black current, blueberries red grapes, beetroot, spinach and blackberries, you can use most fruit and veg.

You dont have to do 10 days, there is a 3 day boost if you prefer.
I also throw sunflower seeds in. I am hoping for more energy!
