Light Exercise
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I seem to be having lots of bad days, I want to try and do some exercise ( baring in mind everything wipes me out). Does anyone do anything that is easy on the joints and doesn't wipe you out to much. My needs are causing my to put on huge amounts of weight, I weigh more now than I ever have, I am on a diet but nothing is shifting so I was hoping some light easy exercise might help. I seem to be in pain with whatever I do X

Water exercises are awesome. if you can find a place with a warm pool its even better. makes your joints feel good just floating there and you can do stuff like laps or gentle exercises. ask your doctor to refer you to water therapy and you can learn the stuff you can safely do in the water.

I've done pilates under the instruction of a physiotherapist and that seemed to help and not make my pain worse

Have you been to a physical therapist to see what you should be doing. They can guide you to the exercises you should start with so you don't hurt yourself. That way the exercises are taylored to your specific needs. I have a whole folder full of exercise that they have given me over the last 20+ years. My favorite and most helpful exercise it to get on the treadmill for as long as I can. Keeps my back, hips, knees and all the muscles happy.

When I was at my worst I was referred for hydrotherapy exercises initially instructed by a physiotherapist. It's best done in a warm pool about 32c, feels lovely on the joints as well. Completely exhausted after each session but definitely got me back to some movement. Those sessions jut started with absolute basics of walking in the pool. I hope you find something that suits you x
