I applied for ODSP Ontario Disability Support Program because due to my condition I cannot work & have no insurance. It is to help pay for my medication, physiotherapy, transportation to and from appointments and various other medical needs
Ontario Works barely covered a tenth the cost of my medication last month alone since the drug eligibility card only covers a couple medications
How long does it usually take to find out if you are approved for ODSP? Also is there anything really important… read more
I am on Odsp, the key to getting it is to make sure your doctor fills out the forms properly, my doctor sent me to see a ruemaloligist to confirm that I do have fibro, and to see a neuroligist also, it also helps if your dr can mention any other problems you have that are associated to fibro, like depression, irratable bowel syndrome, gerd, etc. The forms are difficult to fill out, understand, so if you can get help from a social worker it helps. It takes about six months to get a reply. I was turned down the first time which is not uncommon. I think things have come a long way since I first applied over ten yrs ago. Fibromyalgia is more recognized now. There was a free lawyer service availbable where I lived, that I used to apply the second time. I went to my hearing with the lawyer, and she represented me. I told the board my personal story, about how fibro affected my life, and how it was difficult to work, and I was approved.
All information is welcome Blueeyes1, I was unaware there was CPP but was very excited when ODSP came up. I have no income, but my cousin-in-law does and gets about $800 per month.
Best wishes Blueeyes1.
