I'm currently on Cymbalta because I had been on Prozac and didn't want to add another pill if I could manage depression and pain together. While Cymbalta does help, I still feel like I could be doing more and am considering asking my doctor to add Lyrica to my meds. I am wondering how common it is to be on both and what experiences people have had.
Thanks in advance,
Jane
And don't you just love how the side effects of anti-depressants ARE depression and suicidal ideation........
I have been on anti-depressants all my life due to bi-polar disease but I warn people about Lyrica, it put 15 lbs. on me in 6 weeks of taking it and didn't help with my pain at all.
I have not taken Cymbalta but I do take savella (which I understand is similar to the Cymbalta) and Lyrica. I've been on both for five years with no side effects at all. Have been out of both at the same time a couple times and found that I have terrible problems with pain and weakness without them.
Wow! Thank you all for your answers and comments. I have a lot to consider for sure. I will let you know if I make the leap. :-)
I wish all of you a peaceful day!
Love, light and gentle hugs,
Jane
Dragonlady I was the same. It was an awful time for me.
I am presently on both, and presently trying to get off both! They appeared to work for a while but now I just find they are causing more hard than good with their myriad of side-effects!!?! I can tell you personally that Lyrica contributes to noticeable weight gain. As for Cymbalta helping with depression, it has the exact opposite effect on me, increasing my depression and suicidal ideations!
