Does Anyone Else Suffer From Hip Pain Making It Hard To Walk Unassisted?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am having severe pain in my hip area, more on the back side upper buttock around to the side. I have problems walking. I use a came but it doesn't seem to be helping enough. Any advice is appreciated.

Finding the right physical therapist. I have a lot of hip issues. My pt is a miracle worker. That spot is very very common.
One easy exercise is to lay on your tummy. Let your legs just relax. Don't point toes or anything formal. Just squeeze your bricks and hold 10 seconds. Relax. Do that 20 times a few times a day if possible. It helps. It has to do with contraction of buttocks forcing the hip ligature to relax and stabilizes the pelvis. A lot of the pt stuff is very simple, but some of it is very odd to me, but works.

Your post is interesting to me because I have suffered from hip pain for years now. It flares up to the point where it is painful to walk. I was hospitalized for a week a few years ago because I kept getting stabbing pains in the front of my hip into the abdomen area. My doctor saw me right away and thought it was appendicitis. When I got to the hospital they admitted me and ran tests. The surgeon did not find evidence of appendicitis and called in someone else. I had several tests over the next few days, and saw a bunch of different specialists and nobody knew what was wrong....the story of my life. I was sent home after a week with no diagnosis. I cannot lay on that side to sleep because it hurts. If I have done too much activity then I have the pain when walking. Yet they can't find a problem. I could write a book on the symptoms and tests that have no results. And people wonder why there is frustration and depression??

@A MyFibroTeam Member Mine kinda feels like that.back side and front of hip area, at first thought I had sciatica but that hasn't been brought back up since my MRI of my lumbar. I had a doctor tell me I am going to end up in a wheelchair very soon if I don't get more active. I try but I never feel better just more pain and then in the bed for days. If I go to the grocery store to get groceries it takes me a couple hours to walk around store and get back home, my fiance drives me (he never leaves me) and the store is about 20 minutes away. It takes me 3-4 days to have enough energy to get out of bed after that. I have to recuperate after going to the doctor. Is all this part of Fibro?

I do. I found it is caused by my back not being aligned. Dad had a scooter when he passed away last month and I've been using that to get around big places like Wal-Mart.

I am having that kind of pain right now, I have taken all my meds for right now and they are not helping. I've got things I need to do but it is so hard to function with the pain in my hips and legs.
