Anyone Have T Like Low Back Pain W/pain Down Legs?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm getting ready to see the Dr about my low back pain and I want to see of anyone else has this problem. I want to see of its fibro related. It starts in my goes up my spine to my hips. Then it spreads across my hips, and as if that is not enough, it sends lighting like pains down the back of my legs. It started off just once and a while now its everyday all day. If I take Ibuprofen it helps. If I don't I'm so crippled up I can't move. Fibro or no?

@A MyFibroTeam Member Did your doctor tell you what what the source of pain is? Sciatica can come from spinal stenosis, degenerative disk, nerve entrapment in muscle and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. I have both a herniated disc and sacroiliac joint osteoarthritis which sends nerve pain down my left leg. I get steroid injections and epidural when the pain gets too bad that medication doesn't work anymore

Yes I have intense low back pain that goes down into my hips but not down my legs very often, but at times, yes. When I told my rheumy at least 2 appts. 3 months apart that my back hurt alot, he just said "I don't treat backs". He wouldn't give me a name of a dr. who did, so I just called an orthopedic dr-in the same clinic even!!! That dr did extensive tests , mri, Lumbar & hip epidual steroid injections (which did not work) & after discussing my options, I decided on back surgery. So I'm having it Dec. 1st. My dx was spinal stenosis, lots of arthritis in lumbar back & sponylolysthesis. My mom had that spondy stuff too. So that's the result I have had w/my back pain!

Sounds like sacroiliac joint arthritis. X-ray will show if it is. I had same thing. Pain resolved after steroid injection into both SI joints. Good luck.

Thanks Cristal. i appreciate it so much knowing what the dr says.
In responding to the comment about the electric blanket. With the fibro fog I would forget to turn the electric blanket off and accidently set the house on the fire. With the coma forgetfulness also it's even worse. I'm not allowed to use electrical appliances. Hahaha hahaha. At least the first couple years after I woke up. :-)
