Anyone have any suggestions on helping a doctor fill out the SSA form 221.9 (Medical Opinion Regarding Physical Capacity for Work)? I have been trying for SSA Disability for almost 2 years and have been denied twice. Supervisor finally convinced me to retire early because I was unable to perfom my job. Finally obtained an attorney (not sure if that is going to help but I keep trying) and my doctor sent me a copy of the 221.9 form to help him with my limitations. Need SSA "buzz" work for… read more

When I got disability, the judge told me that letters written by friends describing the changes in me where very helpful. Maybe this could help you as well.

Most cases will take 2 years but you get back pay from when you couldn't do your job completely. I did get an attorney after my 2 nd appeal letter. BTW they won't usually take your case unless they think they can win. Good thing about the wait is you're close to getting your Medicare disability insurance.

I had my knees replaced and thought I could go back to work, but the tingling burning pain in my hands plus the numbness made it very difficult to do my job. I was a self-employed hairdresser. When I went before the judge I had an advocate that was familiar with my type of work on the phone that questioned me ,too. She said that I could do manicures and my reply was I had quit doing those 40 years ago when I became blind in one eye. Then she told the judge that I would be considered unemployable because of all my issues. Sorta makes you feel rejected.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I don't think I understood it that way when my lawyer talked to me. So you are saying it can go back farther then when I filed? Because I had to quit work in 2011. I started school and couldn't do the standing. I've been out of work since Feb or March of 2012. But filed the beginning of this year.
