Disability
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been in contact with a disability lawyer to start the application process. My family doesn't believe that fibromyalgia is a disability. I feel quite alone. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, and L5SI problem with my lower back, high cholesterol, heart beat irregularities, and other issues as well as depression and anxiety. Can anyone tell what I can expect from the application process for disability please

You have to jump thru their hoops! I've been in disability for 5 years. I got it at the administrative judge hearing. That is the 3td step after 2 denials and two appeals. You get to be in front of a judge and talk instead of being a file on A DESK OF someone who just works for SSD.And anyone who said its not real to me I've rid myself of.

Just started my claim, I am ready for a fight, and pray that someone also has the disease in the Social Security office.

I'll be honest - it's not easy. I was also denied twice and had to appear before a judge before I won my case. It took 3 1/2 yrs. A lawyer is the way to go. My daughter wad also denied 2 times and finally got a hearing before the judge and that's when she won her case. It was a little over 2 yr process for her. Just don't give up - hang in there - SSD relies on the fact that most people won't pursue anything after they get denied.

I am going thru the same thing with disability. I started in December and they are finding more wrong with me. Be patient with the process because it takes a long time!
