Medicine? How Do You Determine What Works?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Am I the only one that takes multiple medications and am not sure what works and what does not? I guess my confusion stems from startin on Savella and flexeril and had then added amitriptline, tramadol, Lortab, Xanax, and Nurotin. I still have pain so what of this mess do I continue to take? I am already seeing side effects with the Neurotin.

I stopped my Savella because of the hot flashes were so bad like had to change my clothes 3 to 4 times a day! I take flexeril, amitriptylin, lexapro....Xanax and tramadol as needed. Still have pain but less laundry!

Oh I too have had my plastic medicine weekly dispenser filled to the brim only to feel horrible when only was added. Think it's the 40 year old in me screaming in denial. There have been times I have forgotten, run out, and tried to refuse only to have symptoms return or worsen. So never feel alone. I am right now doing some med discontinue with guidance for md. But always fear something is lurking around the corner to add to the med regimen. So blessing to you

I too take a lot of meds. It takes a while to find the best combination with the least side effects. By combining meds I don't have to take high doses to get results keeping side effects to a minimum. Some doctors prefer this method. Works the best for me. I tried weaning myself off Dr supervised as I thought they were not helping. Had to go back on. It did help me see how much they are helping me cope with the pain. None of my meds take all the pain away. They help take the edge off so I can cope with daily living. Hope this helps.
