Other Bone Conditions
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been dx with Vit D deficiency & I'm having a DEXA scan tomorrow for Osteoporosis. My Mother had early age Osteoporosis, so with everything else my Dr agreed to order the scan for me. I have had several blood tests - all normal except Vit D & a low platelet count ( I put that down to my Cancer issues ) so I'm not showing any inflammatory conditions, such as RA or Lupus etc..... However my lumbar/sacral area can be so painful & restrictive at times. Is this a common Fibro thing? It's actual… read more

Ha! I live in Florida!! I used to live in England.... Where the sun is nothing like Florida! It's ironic really as the joke on me is that I am the palest person my friends know & never get a tan etc.... I'm the one that moves to Florida & has a Vit D deficiency lol

At the time of my Vit D test I was actually out & about a lot & in the sun probably more than I ever have in my whole life! Lol

I feel there is a difference in bone pain & muscle pain. How to describe it? To me there are 2 kinds of bone pain... An aching in the bones pain like when you get flu & then a mechanical pain. This is one where movement feels restricted or stuck - my shoulders for example.... I have shoulder impingement syndrome. Now this may be due to something other than Fibro or it could be because my muscles are always tight with Fibro that it's wrecking my shoulders.... But it's feels like my bones catch or rub on each or are stuck.... With my lumbar area it feels like like someone needs to lift me up and let my bones loosen...?

I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and right now the pain is situated at the sacrum and neck. There is a test that you can ask for, it's called HLA- B27, and it shows if you have the gene causing this disease.

Tracey, I have the same neck condition. I actually thought I was having another stroke, numbness ran down both arms. I went to the ER, and they did cat scan. Doctors said my neck was a mess. I have osteo on all disks in the back and in the neck. I can hardly turn my head. I hold my breath when I have to turn it when I am driving. I get the burning also. I believe we are all fighters, we have to be with fibro.

OH! I totally forgot to mention my wrists. I have no strength in my hands anymore. I sleep with wrist braces at night, do you have to do that too?? If I don't, I end up bending my wrists all the way back or forward and in the morning it hurts really bad. The braces help me. I also use cream before I wrap them like aspercreme or this creme called "old goat creme". I think both have anti inflamatory medicine in them.
