What Beginner Yoga Programs Have You Found Helpful?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question đź’

I've found that Yoga creates more pain for me, but since so many people find it helpful, it has occurred to me that maybe I was trying to do the wrong kind of Yoga, or more advanced Yoga.

I do Restorative Yoga it is easier on the body. It lowers my stress level and gives you a gentle stretch. You can find free classes on line just google Restorative Yoga. You will be able to do Vinasana flow soon enough. Learn one pose a week. Focus on posture and doing it slowly.

Like Erin said, starting with restorative Yoga is recommended. If you have trouble finding anything for Fibromyalgia try looking for Yoga that mentions Arthritis. The Arthritis Society is an excellent resource.

When I did yoga at the beginning of my fibromyalgia 2009, 2010, (tried for one year) And do positions to open chest and move the back I could not stoping my tears while I was trying to move a little bit to contribute to my health and stretch the area. i cried many times in class and after it. Did not tell anyone, but felt embarrassed and the feel shame to go and share with same people. Also following day had to be in bed because felt most pain.
Every time I do exercise, following day means to be in bed.
Please share your experience with me.
Thanks you
God bless you all

I’ve been doing Gentle Yoga which is basically stretching everything and in the end the relaxation is so wonderful! I’ve learned a few things that I want to share
1-Go early to class and find a “safe spot” ( I’m in the back)
2-Don’t overdo! If u can’t then do another easy pose you can
3/Don’t try to push so hard in certain poses, start out doing the minimum
4/Tell your instructor your issues and they should “modify” poses for you
My studio has no mirrors which I love!
We are also encouraged to do poses with our eyes closed which helps with inhibition
I had to try many studios until I found a wonderful one
