When I was diagnosed several years ago, I was told by many specialists - both medical and holistic practitioners, that I should exercise.
I am not too sure about you, but some days I am either too tired to even think about exercise or even getting out of bed.
However, my new resolution is that I am going to start with Pilates. Has anyone tried this and does it help? or Yoga?
I found a great app for my phone and tablet called Daily Yoga. It is the best!!! I like it because it has video of the exercises, lots of different levels and types of exercises depending on your comfort level. It is really like stretching and meditation together. It is great for someone who has never done yoga before. If you don't have a smart phone or tablet I think they have a website too. I also use an app called Calm for meditation and several for hypnosis when I sleep. Helps with stress and I hope will eventually help with waking up energized.
I have been doing Pilates for a few weeks now and I find it helps. I just lye on my back and work my legs muscles to keep them strong. I have one that I do for my back muscles and I find both of these are helpful for the pain when I hurt. I like slow stretching exercises, and I walk when I can which is not to often. I get so fatigued. I probably make 5 to 10 minutes and I and dead.
I hope everyone has a good day and am sending hugs to all of you. Linda
My doctor tells me to help with my pain I have to exercise every day, I do then I can't move for the next several days...She says to me to push through it and I have tried so many itmes but I swear it makes my pain worse not better but she refuses to listen.
@A MyFibroTeam Member...I think your doctor is crazy! At a minimum doesn't understand fibro. I have been doing lots of research and reading on fibro and exercise and all of it says to break it up into managable times and not over do it becbecause it causes us a flare up and wants us to exercise even less. What I am reading is some exercise is better than none and that 10 minutes of activity 3 times a day can be more effective than a solid 30 minutes at a time.
@A MyFibroTeam Member - I get the same reaction from several of my doctor's. I basically had to figure out what I could do without crashing from the exercise and then work my own plan. It involves several times a day doing 5 minutes of stretching on good days. On bad days I try to be nice to myself and don't beat myself up because I didn't do any exercising.
It is what is best for you, only you know what that is so develop a plan that works for you. I think you might actually be able to do something because it is what you know works for you. Good luck!
